GOP primaries: enough already Thursday, Feb 16 2012

These primaries seem to be going on for longer than than the last time my brother took a bath (we make him sleep in the yard now, keeps the deer and bears away).Santurm, Rommney,Ron Paul, and the other guy yada, yada, yada. Its getting really tiring, like watching the same episode of The View all the time (I wouldn’t mind watching it if they had a few good looking women instead of a bunch of cackling hens looking to kick up some dust). Romeny’s leading, Gingrich is closing in , Santorum gaining momentum, Ron Paul sitting in a toilet stall screaming ” Where’s the damn toilet paper”.
Europe on the way to imploding , jobless numbers better but not great, Greece crumbling by the day, Syria using children for sniper practice, gas by me up to 3.80 a gallon, Israel getting ready to show Al Komeni’s country the meaning of I-RAN, war in Afganistan, and I have to be treated to debates that open with “Mr Gingrich, did you propose having an open marriage with your wife

(An aside, if I were propose that to my fiance I would be eating through a straw for six months after which I’d be would be singing soprano, plus

I got a look at both them women and not even my friend Johnny and his cousins Red and Black could induce me to … You know, with either of them).

Listen I ain’t a Dem or a Rep. I’m of the  “DTLD” aka Do The Least Damage Party

Enough is enough. Looking at their faces here, there, and everywhere; phone calls day and night; promises how they are going to bring our country back to whatever. A little advice to who ever wins the primaries. Even if you get elected you’ll have a higher power to answer to, the real boss. His name “Global Finance”. You’ll probably be relegated to ribbon cutting ceremony’s and other great perks like flying to Germany and having dinner with that fox Angela Merkal .

Good Luck

A Greek Tragedy Thursday, Feb 16 2012

There will be no resolution to the Greek economic crisis. The results of austerity measures employed prior to its first infusion of money by the Troika has only seen Greece’s GDP fall by 7%, mass unemployment, especially of the young of whom close to 50% are jobless (millions of young people with nothing to do and nothing to look forward to can only lead to trouble), billions of euros being secreted out of the country by the wealthy and an all pervasive sense of misery throughout the populace. Now the ECB, IMF and , with a particular vengeance, Germany want to impose another round of devastating  austerity measures on the country in return for another infusion of euros that they know Greece will never be able to pay back. How can they be expected to? The proposed infusion of euros will only go to pay off bonds that are coming due soon. Further austerity measures will only serve to lower GDP and thus render them unable to pay back this second round of loans. As one wise American poet put it” Deja vue all over again”

As an example take a look at Portugal who followed the Troika’s instructions to the T. What happened? A downward slide of it’s GDP  a downgrade by Moody’s, and still mired in the fear that as Greece goes so do they.

Austerity measures need to be put in place gently, a little at a time. Give the country and its people a little time to absorb the shock. You don’t slam someone a hard right to the solar plexus and immediately expect them to start strumming a banjo.

I’m beginning to think that this whole process is an underhanded way to force the country into privatizing everything it owns, from its airports to its cesspools, to be scooped up by a vast array of international financiers that will then either dismantle it all and sell it off as scrap or charge for every flush of a Greek toilet.

Mark my words, Greece will default but it will not lead to any worldwide catastrophe.  Y2K, which the world was ready for in advance, came and went with hardly a whisper outside Times Square. And such the financial world has probably made its preparations in advance. Don’t worry, they’ll be alright. Can’t say the same about the people of Greece. They can’t do anything but watch and suffer.
